Reilly Overview

Named for one of the co-founders of the Mission Viejo Company, Philip J. Reilly opened in 1990.  Nestled in a small neighborhood community, Reilly prides itself on its active parent group and tight-knit family atmosphere. Reilly is both a National Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School serving approximately 500 students in the heart of Mission Viejo. Our school is unique in that it was constructed as the first joint venture project between a school district, Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD), and the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE). The school provides an integrated facility where ALL students have meaningful opportunities to interact with one another.

Reilly takes pride in our high academic standards. We use a variety of technological resources as tools to increase student learning throughout all areas of the curriculum. We offer enrichment time for students to receive individualized activities based on their needs. Students are provided additional support through intervention or offer extension activities for students who are excelling in the curriculum.  Students having difficulty meeting grade level standards may also be served through our Specialized Academic Instruction Program.  Reilly has a partnership with local universities to help develop strong student teachers, while providing a lower student/teacher ratio within the participating classrooms.

Using John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success as a model for character development, teachers incorporate character education, problem-solving opportunities, and higher level thinking skills into lessons across the curriculum. Students are reminded weekly of the Reilly Rules, “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Build Relationships and Work Hard”.

Reilly’s PTA and staff members are committed to the maintenance of a well-rounded program, including participation in field trips, assemblies, and special programs. There is a strong communication between home and school. Each Wednesday the sense of community is displayed at the Wonderful Wednesday Flag ceremony. Together, we ensure that the children attending our school engage in meaningful activities that will support their learning for a lifetime.

Our staff at Reilly provide a comprehensive, balanced program which promotes Great First Instruction (GFI) focusing on high scholastic achievement for all students. Emphasis is placed on 21st century student-centered learning activities which allow students to apply skills in language arts, social science, science, and mathematics to real life scenarios. Our outstanding staff and students use a variety of technological resources as tools to increase student learning throughout all areas of the curriculum. We deliver a strong academic program focusing on curriculum which is closely aligned with the Common Core State Standards, utilizing strategies that promote Great First Instruction in every classroom. We consistently monitor and reflect on our instructional programs to produce positive learning outcomes.
