Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year –

At Reilly Elementary we are honored to provide every child an outstanding education! Our students are challenged with a rigorous, engaging, laser focused instructional program that is built on positive and collaborative partnerships with our families and community. Our positive school culture focuses on developing fundamental social and emotional skills that will foster resilience, perseverance, empathy and the ability to collaborate and communicate in a diverse learning community.  Children will flourish in an environment of “student-centered” 21st Century skills that is data-driven through instructional goals and differentiated lessons that are essential in preparing every student for post-secondary options.

Our teachers will begin the school year with students having access to Chromebooks in K-5.  Through generous parent donations, we have been able to accelerate our use of technology by providing a 1-1 Chromebook program in grades 3-5.  We utilize Chromebook carts and our computer lab to provide multiple days of meaningful integration of online learning opportunities for our TK-2 grade classrooms. These learning experiences allow our students to engage online with their peers through Google classroom, virtual field trips, research projects, and enrichment activities to reinforce academic learning. In addition to integrating technology in our classrooms, we will be implementing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), as we pilot new Science curriculum that will be adopted for the 2019-2020 school year. Our newly created STEAM Committee will be collaborating with stakeholders to develop and design a framework to integrate STEAM hands on learning experiences in our classrooms.

The staff at Reilly Elementary believes in a positive behavioral approach that is reinforced through our school-wide rules of: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Build Relationships and Work Hard. This year we will redesign our “positive proactive” school wide behavior management plan by utilizing a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) approach. As we redesign our plan, our PBIS Committee will reach out to all stakeholders for input, as home school communication and partnerships will be key to the success of our PBIS plan. As part of our plan, we will proactively teach and support students with behavioral, social and emotional goals.

Reilly Elementary partners with Harper for Kids to teach our students important character traits from Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success supports Reilly’s vision in creating a positive learning environment that teaches our students to always strive to be their “Personal Best.” Our school is thriving because its teachers, support staff, families, and students are respected and valued.

Building positive partnerships with our families that inspires trust, will allow our teachers to focus on engaging ALL our students in meaningful, challenging and innovative educational experiences. As your Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. I will continue to foster and unite collaborative and trustworthy relationships with each of you during the upcoming school year. Together with our families, Reilly Elementary teachers and support staff, will provide an “unwavering commitment to ALL student success.”
